The Hunger games 4 Day itinerary

Ryoko Matsumoto

The Hunger Games four-day itinerary is a trip in North Carolina in which fans can go to film locations and experience The Hunger Games world. They can learn skills a Tribute could use. This tour has no guide, so fans can go anywhere they want. On the first day, they can feel like they are Effie. At first, they can visit the decadence of the Capitol. And then drop by District 12.  Then they can see a fun-loving place that made the  film stars feel at home. On the second day, they can have the same lunch which the Tributes ate during training. On the third day, they can start the trip to the heart of District 12 (Shelby). And go to (Charlotte). In the night, they can visit a small town through the Capitol which is popular as a comfortable town. On the last day, they can visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame. This was  has the similar road that 1 to 12 tributes went  through with their advertising car. The Hunger Games fan can enjoy the story and they can be like these movie characters on vacation in North Carolina.

The Hunger Games

Ryoko Mtsumoto

I watched The Hunger Games movie. I was interested in this movie when I read the book of this but I was little bit regret when I watched the movie. This is because the movie was kind of summary of the book and these cut something which I wanted to see. There are three reasons why I don’t like the movie. At first, I wanted to know more about Katniss’s mother. She was sick for a long time and she couldn’t do the house work. So Katniss worked and did housework instead of her. However, when Prim was chosen as a tribute and Katniss decided to volunteer, Katniss said, “You can.” I think Katniss knew that her mother was not so very sick. It meand she nestle up to Katniss and Katniss knew it. I was interested this story. It is not relate to this story though. I think this story had to seen more in the movie. Second, I don’t like the end of this story. It is not completely finished. I know there is continue story but the last left a lot of problems. For example, who will be a gamemaker? or how is Gale? or how will finished the terrible game? I can’t satisfy with only love success. I think someone should stop this game. Third, changing rule made the story boring. The time rule was changed, we could notice that Katniss and Peeta will win. It makes the movie boring. For these three reasons, I don’t like the movie so much.

Spring break

I went to Portland with my friend Anna to visit her roommate Jac’s house. Jac and we have been good friends since we came to Willamette. At first, Anna was invited Jac’s house but they invited me the next day. So I should have gone to Portland by myself. Jack and her mother told me the way to their house on the phone. Anna sometimes helped me. At first, I went to the bus stop in Salem. My friend Tosiki took me to the bus stop because I’m so week to remember the way. But I thought I can change today through this trip.  Next, I took a train from Wilsonville to BeavertonTC. This was the first time for me to take train in America by alone. What a big mistake. I took the wrong train to the next station. Surprisingly, I wasn’t confused so much. It was opposite side of the train I wanted to take . I decided to take the other side of the train. Finally I could reach the OrencoNW where is near Jac’s house. Anna and Jac and her mother welcomed me in the station. I was so happy then. When we went Jac’s house, I saw very beautifull  clean house. After a little bit rest, we went to famouse river. It was huge and has many of cherry blossam. I was so impressive. Anna and I took beautifull pictures. Next, we went shopping. I was so happy because  I’ve wanted togo shopping since I came to america. I bought many clothes in american aparel, H&M and forever21. I reary enjoyed. At dinner, Jac’s father took us to the German restaulant. We enjyoyed talking very much. I feel like they are rael famirly. The next day, we had no time for train. So we played table game and eating ice cream. I think It was very american. Anna and I said goodbye to famirly after that. I missed them. They were very kind. I had happy time.

The Pow Wow

I saw Pow Wow show for the first time. Of course it was the first time to know them for me, too. I didn’t know what it is and how can I understand their culture. When I watched Pow Wow video in the class, I thought it is very interesting but little bit scary. But today I went there and felt very impressing because they proud of their culture and tried to it very seriously. The dance was kind like animal. I heard native American people have animal spirits, so I understand it when I saw their dance. They danced strong and powerful. Dram sounds was also powerful. They seem to like big and fixed rhythm. They sometimes shouted. I guess it has the same thing as animal’s voice. Besides, their closes were very interesting. Almost of all wore bird’s feather and big hair decorations. Their clothes have many colors. It means fire. Especially female clothes were colorful. I liked a woman’s clothe. It was pink which my favorite color. I reary like that. Little children also danced. It was very cute and made me happy because these children danced very hard like adults. The outside of the Pow Wow, there were a lot of native American cultural things. For example, there were cute accessories. I liked earrings, necklaces, bracelets. There were a lot of kinds of color. I wanted to make my own accessories but I had no time. My friend made her bracelet. I’m so jealous. And there were foods, too. I didn’t eat but it smells like pizza. If I haven’t have dinner, I could eat them. Anyway, I really enjoyed the Pow Wow. I want to know about native American culture more. Native people may think they should not forget their culture and their spirits. I think Pow Wow is reminder for American people and it shows us defferent culture. I like that.
